After handing in his resignation letter to the Secretary at Lok Bhavan, K Siddaramaiah stated he complied with all requests from the Congress High Command. The experienced Congress leader pledged to stay involved in state politics and mentioned he declined the High Command's suggestion to join the Rajya Sabha. He remarked, “I have been in politics for 50 years. It’s well known,” and praising his government’s accomplishments, the 78-year-old noted, “Karnataka is now the top state in per capita income. ” During the press conference, Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar, Home Minister G Parameshwara, Energy Minister KJ George, and other Cabinet members were present. Shivakumar is expected to assume the leading position, along with two to three Deputy Chief Ministers.
Among the prominent Congress figures in Karnataka, Shivakumar is frequently seen as a “problem-solver. ” His rise in politics has been greatly influenced by engaging with the community and his organizational skills. His strong persona has appealed to some young people in Karnataka and Kerala, even though his political path has faced several controversies. Siddaramaiah mentioned, “The High Command wanted me to join the Rajya Sabha. However, I respectfully declined the offer, stating I am not keen on national politics. The people have chosen me for five years. There are still two years left. Until then, I will serve here. ” Siddaramaiah added, “Our society faces inequality due to a lack of equal opportunities. To eliminate this inequality, everyone must have the same chances. When I was Chief Minister, we worked to promote equality. We tried to honestly fulfill our manifesto promises. ” Siddaramaiah expressed gratitude, saying, “I had the chance to serve seven crore Kannadigas as Chief Minister two times, and as Leader of Opposition on two occasions. I appreciate Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge”.
