The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is now officially up for sale, with the franchise's owners, Diageo, looking to find new buyers by March 31, 2026. The sale process has begun, and they have shared this information publicly. In a message sent to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the British company described the process as a strategic overview of the Investment Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd (RCSPL), which is fully owned by United Spirits Ltd., a subsidiary of Diageo. In their letter, the company mentioned, "USL is starting a strategic review of its investment in RCSPL, which owns the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team participating in the men's Indian Premier League (IPL) and Women's Premier League (WPL) cricket events organized yearly by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)."

In their letter to the BSE, Diageo and USL informed that they are making this announcement according to regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligation and Disclosure Requirement). They also stated their aim to finish the process by March 31 of next year. Praveen Someswar, managing director and CEO of USL, expressed that while RCSPL has been a significant asset, it is not central to their main operations. "RCSPL has been an important and strategic asset for USL. However, it is not part of our primary alcobev business. This decision reflects USL's and Diageo's dedication to continuously assess their business portfolio in India for sustained long-term value for all stakeholders while considering RCSPL's best interests," said Someswar.

Previously, it was reported that there are many potential buyers interested in purchasing RCB if the franchise is put on the market. A private investment company from the US is one of those interested, along with the JSW group. Other interested parties include the Adani Group, Adar Poonawalla from the Serum Institute of India, and Ravi Jaipuria from the Devyani International Group based in Delhi.
