The T20 World Cup game has caught everyone's attention; however, yesterday was a letdown for cricket lovers as India was defeated by the reigning champion South Africa on Sunday, February 22, 2026. South Africa celebrated a big victory in the Super Eight Group 1 match, marking a record with India's worst loss by 76 runs. The match in Ahmedabad had India struggling to reach the target of 187 runs set by South Africa, and with 7 wickets lost, the team managed only 111 runs in 18.5 overs. Winning the toss, South Africa decided to bat first in the Super 8 T20 World Cup, and the game began with Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram taking the field as batters, while Arshdeep Singh bowled first for India.

In the second over, Bumrah took out De Kock, and Rickelton came in as his replacement. When Pandya dismissed Markram, Dewalf Brevis joined the team in fourth place. Rickelton was caught by Dube, leading to David Miller stepping in. After a rocky start, Brevis and Miller formed a solid partnership after losing three wickets, as the score quickly improved from 20/3 in four overs to 73/3 after nine overs. By 12 overs, the duo helped South Africa reach 111/3. After Brevis and Miller were out, Washington Sundar and Stubbs came to bat; while Jansen was out in a single over, the score reached 157/5 in 17 overs. Later, Bosch also got out, and Stubbs helped maintain the momentum, bringing South Africa to a total of 187/7 in 20 overs. Ultimately, despite the ups and downs, South Africa triumphed over India by 76 runs, a win celebrated as significant for the defending champions.
