Ranveer Singh’s hit movie is still doing great in theaters, but a legal dispute over a song remix suggests a JioHotstar release might be coming soon. Dhurandhar: The Revenge isn’t slowing down. After seven weeks, Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller featuring Ranveer Singh continues to attract audiences, breaking records, and reinforcing its place as the biggest Hindi success in India’s history. It’s amazing how everyone is already fixated on one question: When will it be available for streaming? While there hasn’t been any announcement about its digital release, a recent court case has given fans something to think about. The issue revolves around a remix of a song called Tirchi Topiwale, now renamed Rang De Laal, that is used in the film’s final scenes. Composer Shashwat Sachdev recreated it for Dhurandhar 2, but director Rajiv Rai claims that B62 Films didn’t obtain permission. He is taking legal action. In a hearing at the Delhi High Court, the two parties couldn’t come to an agreement. B62 Films argued against halting screenings, mentioning that the film is still running in theaters and “unlikely to be available on OTT before mid-May.”
Typically, Bollywood films wait around 8 to 10 weeks before being released for streaming, and Dhurandhar 2 will reach that time frame around May 14. The original film, which was released in December 2025, became available on Netflix eight weeks later, so it isn’t too far-fetched to anticipate the sequel on JioHotstar by mid-May. Super Cassettes, which holds the music rights, opposed Rai’s request for an immediate stop. The film continues to play in theaters while the legal matters are resolved. This means the box office earnings keep growing, and unintentionally, the court papers confirmed the streaming launch that fans suspected would happen. Aditya Dhar’s movie tells the story of Ranveer Singh, a spy operating in Karachi, with support from Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. Both Dhurandhar films have earned over Rs 3,100 crore worldwide. The sequel set a record for the biggest opening in Bollywood and has achieved the highest collection ever for a Hindi film in India, surpassing Rs 1,000 crore net locally. Around the globe, it is nearing Rs 1,800 crore, placing it second only to Baahubali 2.
If the May timeline holds, look for Dhurandhar 2 to premiere on JioHotstar during the third week of the month. The producers haven’t shared any updates, likely waiting for the legal situation to clear up. With theaters still thriving and streaming discussions increasing, the official release date should be announced soon. For now, the film continues to attract audiences while keeping lawyers engaged.
