As the Narendra Modi government has been emphasizing on imparting yoga right from schooling as part of their curriculum, some sections of society have been opposing their move to include Surya Namaskar as that resembles religious practice, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath came into forey and taken on those who are opposing the decision.

Yogi Adityanath, told the people opposing the sun (Surya Namaskar) should not take its benefit also, they should be locked in a dark room. His words aimed at those interpreting Surya Namaskar as a communal issue came reportedly after government has dropped the practice from the Yoga in schools to mark first International Yoga Day on June 21.

The Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur constituency, reiterated that he would celebrate Yoga Day as earlier planned (including Surya Namaskar performance). He also criticized the section of people opposing Geeta and Surya Namskar as ‘Narrow Minded’.

This is not the first time he is news by making controversial comments, he earlier commented that 99 percent of Indian Muslims as converts. His comments on Ghar Wapsi movement also raged vocal battle.

Indian government is spearheading the International Yoga Day, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly last year.
