Air India's flight AI 185 from Delhi to Vancouver was required to come back to Delhi after being in the air for more than seven hours on March 19, as confirmed by the airline in a formal announcement. The flight took off from Indira Gandhi International Airport but turned around while it was above Chinese airspace, according to flight tracking information. The plane landed safely back in Delhi, and all those on board got off without any issues. Air India mentioned that the choice to return was made due to “an operational issue and in accordance with set standard operating procedures,” but did not reveal detailed information. It is important to note that AI 185 was flown using a Boeing 777-200 LR aircraft on March 19, while this route is typically operated by a Boeing 777-337 ER. A source suggested that there may have been an administrative problem related to the aircraft being used, which caused the flight to turn back. However, more details, including the specific reason for the change in route and the total number of passengers, were not available.

In the announcement, the airline stated, “Air India flight AI185, flying from Delhi to Vancouver on March 19, returned to Delhi due to an operational matter and in line with established standard operating procedures. The aircraft landed safely, and everyone on board disembarked. ” “We truly regret the trouble this unexpected situation caused to our passengers. Our teams on the ground in Delhi provided all necessary help, including arranging hotel stays while we worked to get the passengers to their destination as quickly as possible,” it continued. Air India also confirmed that the passengers affected were taken care of and that the flight left for Vancouver the next morning with all passengers onboard. The airline emphasized that the safety and well-being of passengers and crew is its top priority.
