On Sunday, Donald Trump criticized Elon Musk for saying he would create a new political party. Trump said that Musk has gone crazy lately and is a mess. Trump claimed Musk wants to start a third party, even though those parties never do well in America. Trump posted on Truth Social that he is sad to see Elon Musk lose it and become a disaster in the last month or so. Trump added that Musk wants to begin a third political party, even though such parties haven't been successful in the US because the system isn't made for them. He said third parties only cause trouble and chaos, and we already have enough of that with the Democrats, who are radical, unsure, and out of touch. He praised the Republicans as a well-organized group that just passed the largest bill of its type ever.

This gets rid of the silly rule that would have made everyone buy an electric car quickly. I never liked that idea," Trump said. “Now people can buy what they want: gas cars, hybrids (which are popular), or new kinds of cars as they come out. No more rule forcing electric cars. I've talked about this for two years. When Elon fully supported me, I asked if he knew I'd end the electric car rule. I said it in every speech and conversation." “He said he was fine with it, which surprised me!" Trump noted. “Also, Elon wanted a friend to lead NASA. I thought his friend was good, but I was surprised he was a strong Democrat who never gave money to Republicans. Elon might have been too."

In December, Trump chose Isaacman, a wealthy space traveler, to head NASA. However, on May 31, he took back the nomination before the Senate could vote on it, and he didn't say why. Trump, who hasn't named a new NASA pick yet, said on Sunday that news reports were correct: he didn't like that Isaacman had supported Democratic politicians in the past. The President wrote that he also felt it wasn't right for a close friend of Elon Musk, who is in the space business, to lead NASA, since NASA is so important to Musk's companies. He said his main job is to protect the American people.

When reporters asked Trump about Musk's announcement of a new political party, Trump said it was silly to start a third party. He said the Republican Party is doing great, the Democrats have lost their way, and the U.S. has always had two main parties. Trump added that a third party would only make things more confusing, and they never work. He told reporters that Musk could do what he wants, but he thinks it's ridiculous. Trump made these comments before getting on Air Force One in New Jersey to go back to Washington after visiting his nearby golf club.

He's starting the "America Party" because he thinks Trump's tax cuts and spending law will ruin the nation. Musk stated that his new party will try to defeat Republican members of Congress in the upcoming elections who supported the big spending bill. Musk gave a lot of money to help Trump get re-elected in 2024 and was often seen with the president. Their disagreement about the spending bill caused a rift that Musk tried but failed to fix.

Trump claims Musk is upset because the new law, which Trump signed, ends tax breaks for Tesla's electric cars. The President has threatened to cancel billions of dollars in government deals and financial support that Tesla and SpaceX get because of Musk's disapproval.
