Airplane passenger arrested for jumping onto airport Tarmac

North Carolina Airport officials have arrested a traveler on Thursday, who bite a flight attendant and opening the gallery door to jump from the plane to the tarmac,  federal air marshals said in a statement.

According to reports, authorities are unable to know the reason why the traveler identified as Tun Lon Sein committed such a ruckus, due to the little English he knew.

He was taken to court on Friday, but the judge postponed the trail because the Thai interpreter could not speak Karin, a language spoken in lower Myanmar.

Sein was traveling in American Airlines, when the plane began to taxi away from the terminal at Charlotte Douglas International Airport to prepare to takeoff.

Sein went to the main aircraft door and tried to open it, but was stopped by a flight attendant. Two passengers then came forward for help.

“Sein then tried to bite the flight attendant, moved towards the galley service door, managed to open it and jumped to the tarmac,” the complaint said.

He was obstructed from running onto the active taxiway by airport workers, then took him to a local hospital for treatment.

Flight attendants said that they believe Sein understood the safety requirements because he could see that the seat belt sings were illuminated and all the passengers were seated. Also he entered the United States at Newark, so he had flown on two other flights before boarding the flight in Charlotte.

The Airlines company issued a statement that said the plane returned to the gate after “a security incident with a passenger.”

The plane was re-screened and landed about 90 minutes late at its destination of New Bern, North Carolina, the airline said.

The offender has been charged with interference with flight crew members and attendants on a commercial flight. His initial court appearance has been rescheduled for Thursday, June 1.

Sein’s lawyer was not available for comment.
