Decriminalize all drugs, hard or soft!

Those are not my words, but the words of a coalition of experts on the Canadian drug policy. They have urged the country to decriminalize all the drugs not just the soft drugs but all the drugs, cocaine, heroine etc included.

They described the attitude of the government towards the addicts today as a "stunning display of unimaginative thinking,"  while it tried to crack down on them but has been largely a failure when it came to the control of movement of drugs into the nation. Now, the treatment offered to the addicts who want to wane off the drugs is a tougher job that it was ever.

It should be understood that the illegal flow of drugs can never be stopped into any nation, not just Canada for that matter because it is impossible to monitor the lives of every individual without violating the fundamental rights of the people. It would also be very intrusive to the people who are not really involved with them.

Instead it is advisable to go Czech Republic way, which decriminalized all drugs back in 2010. With that the drug use became stabilized, social costs usually associated with drug use softened, says the CDPC. Government can provide cleaner needles and pipes for the ones neding them. The drugs can be taxed more than other drugs which will lead to a large improvement in the economy. How much could the taxes could the government reap considering that the underground marijuana industry alone is a $357 million annual business in British Columbia?
