With the introduction of the iPhone 16e as Apple’s latest budget-friendly offering, attention is now directed towards the flagship iPhone 17 series set to be unveiled later this year. A veteran journalist has indicated that Apple intends to enhance the camera features of the iPhone 17 Pro variants, extending beyond just still images. The tech giant from Cupertino is also expected to place a strong emphasis on advancements in video recording capabilities this time. In the most recent issue of the Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg pointed out that Apple's goal is for the iPhone 17 Pro series to become the quintessential devices for video creators and vloggers. Reportedly, a “substantial” upgrade is anticipated, particularly for the higher-end Pro models, with specific attention given to enhancing video recording functionality.

According to Gurman, Apple aims to position its iPhone 17 Pro models as suitable replacements for dedicated cameras used by content creators. It is anticipated that the company will showcase these enhancements during the keynote presentation at its expected event in September, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 17 series. While specifics have yet to be verified, earlier reports indicate that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max may feature a new 48-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, succeeding the existing 12-megapixel camera found in the iPhone 16 Pro models. Additionally, there are indications that a 24-megapixel front-facing camera could replace the current 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera. Recently released renders suggest significant design updates for the smartphones, with Pro models potentially adopting a Pixel-style camera arrangement and dual-tone back panels.
