India Set To Host The 2019 World Kabaddi Cup

While India is known for a plethora of sports across the world, one sport that does stand out as a trademark for the country is Kabaddi. The country is all set to host the 2019 World Kabaddi Cup from December 01 to December 09th, 2019 and is set to be organized by the Punjab government. The same was recently revealed by the Sports Minister of India, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi in Chandigarh on November 13th, 2019.

The tournament this year is dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of the Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. In total, nine teams from across the world are expected to participate in the event to fight for the title of the winner. The countries expected to play include India, USA, Australia, Sri Lanka, England, Pakistan and Canada.

Except for Canada and Pakistan, the other teams have gotten the clearance from the Indian government and the remaining two are under the process currently.

The other teams have been issued with the NOC from the Central Government. Sodhi said that the NOC for the remaining two countries are still in the talks currently and might be issued recently before everything is started.

The inauguration of the event is going to take place on December 01st, 2019 at the Guru Nanak Stadium at Sultanpur Lodhi. Four matches are also going to be conducted on the same day itself.

The event is set to be conducted till December 09th, 2019 and the closing event of the tournament is set to be conducted  Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Stadium in Dera Baba Nanak. Apart from these places, few of the other matches are scheduled to be played at Guru Nanak stadium in Amritsar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh stadium in Ferozepur, Sports Stadium in Bathinda and Sports Stadium YPS in Patiala.

The semi final matches of the tournament are scheduled to be played at Charanganga sports stadium in Sri Anandpur Sahib.
