The BCCI announced on Monday that prominent allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will miss the five-match Test series against England due to an injury sustained over the weekend, just days before the crucial fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester, where India must win. Additionally, the BCCI stated that fast bowler Arshdeep Singh will not be available for the fourth Test. Reddy, who participated in the second and third Tests, injured himself while working out in the gym on Sunday, July 20, and X-rays showed he has ligament damage. "Allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the last two Tests due to a left knee injury. He will return home, and the team hopes for his quick recovery," the BCCI mentioned in their statement.
"Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the fourth Test against England in Manchester. He suffered an injury to his left thumb while bowling during a training session in Beckenham," the statement continued. To take his place, Haryana fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has been added to the team and has already joined them in Manchester. The 24-year-old Kamboj is a valuable inclusion following his strong performance for India A against the England Lions in two A-team matches prior to the Test series. The fourth Test is set to begin at Old Trafford on Wednesday. England leads the five-match Anderson Tendulkar Trophy 2-1. Meanwhile, Akash Deep, who is dealing with a minor groin issue, played in the second and third Test against England at Birmingham and Lord's, but the BCCI has not commented on this matter. His availability remains uncertain.
