Narendra Modi chairs a Crucial Meeting with Chief Ministers

The Omicron variant is spreading off on a faster note than expected in India and the cases are now traced in all the states and union territories. As per the Health Experts, more than 80 percent of the new cases of coronavirus are of the Omicron variant. The Health Ministry issued special guidelines for all the states and the governments of the states too imposed strict guidelines considering the surge in the cases. Indian Prime Minister. Narendra Modi has been keen to chair a meeting with all the Chief Ministers of the states and the meeting is scheduled to take place today at 4 PM. This would be the first meeting with the Chief Ministers this year. Almost all the Chief Ministers would be available for the meeting.

Dr VK Paul, a NITI Aayog member during his recent press conference said that the Omicron variant should not be considered as a common cold and it should be taken seriously. The Omicron variant is replacing Delta variant and the spread is happening on a faster note. The new cases of coronavirus crossed 2 lakh mark and the third wave of the coronavirus is all over. Maharashtra, New Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan are the most impacted states because of the Omicron variant. There is a sharp rise in the active cases of coronavirus in the country and the active cases neared 10 lakhs from less than one lakh in just a week.

The positivity rate is the highest in West Bengal which is 32.18 percent and in Maharashtra, it is said to be 22.39 percent. The positivity rate in Delhi is 23.1 percent and in Uttar Pradesh it is 4.47 percent. Narendra Modi chaired a review meeting with the officials through a video conference and he ordered them to ensure adequate health infrastructure across the nation.
