Indian national capital New Delhi's air quality continued to remain in the category of 'very poor' today morning. New Delhi is the most polluted cities of the globe and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced to bring 2000 electric buses for the state to beat pollution. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is 312 at 8 AM today as per the reports from the Ministry of Earth Sciences' air quality forecast agency SAFAR. All those below 50 are said to be safe and the AQI between 50 and 100 is called satisfactory. Anything above 300 is called severe or hazardous. "Maximum temperature and wind speed are likely to increase gradually in the next 3 days (Jan 18, 19, 20) enhancing ventilation of pollutants leading to improvement in air quality but within ‘Very Poor’ category" posted SAFAR on Monday.

SAFAR also said that the high winds are likely from January 21st and this would result in the dilution of the pollutants and the AQI is expected to get improved. Arvind Kejriwal urged the people of the national capital to shift to electric vehicles to control the pollution. As per IQAir, New Delhi is the most polluted city of the world. The indoor air pollution levels are equal to half of the pollution in the outdoors in Delhi NCR in December last year. New Delhi has been struggling to improve the air quality from the past few months. Almost 132 cities have pollution levels down below the national standards as per the National Clean Air Programme that started in 2019.
